1. "Settle Down"

(Compilation video; only intros!)

Looping "Settle Down" live at 303 (Northcote, Melbourne) in 2009. It's worth checking out this early version of the song, performed one year before at the same place.

Live at Sing Sing Studios (2010).

A jazzy rendition performed at Studios 301 (Alexandria, Sydney) in September 2011, at a promo event for The Sims.

Performing in the front yard of the Spotify House, at the South by Southwest Music Festival 2012, Austin (Texas).

"I remember being so anxious right before this show. We played 9 shows all up at SXSW in 2012 & I was exhausted.
I saw a tiny speaker, an expanse of grass & an intensely awkward configration of people cramped closely to the ‘stage’. As a perfectionist, wanting to perform at my very best for every show, I saw a problematic situation & walked in feeling unsure I could pull it off at all.
It’s in these moments, that I try to lean into chaos. I let my anxiety fuel me. It’s a kind of unhinged energy which is a little dangerous but I put it somewhere safe. Into the music. I closed my eyes, avoiding eye contact & started the loops. It was a messy & somewhat claustrophobic arrangement, looking back, but there was a fire buried in there & it burned brighter as I continued to build the song.
I adopted that well worn ‘what have I got to lose?’ mentality for this performance, and somehow it tuned out ok? Ya’ll even watched this over 4 million times. I’m still so blown away by how a space can seem so intimidating when you walk in, but then you COMMIT wholeheartedly to what that moment presents… you BRING your fears to the stage rather than pushing them down inside…. Then something starts to shift energetically.
And it’s like I can see it happening in real time, in this video. I love this young girl. She was so serious and determined. So ready to bare it all. There’s so much I would teach my younger self… things I’d say to help her along if I got to do it again, but this energy? I wanna keep re-learning it from HER everyday."
